How To Grow Your Lawn Care Business

In the  United States alone, small businesses spend more than twenty billion dollars annually in local advertising. A big chunk of that is spent on advertising in the yellow pages.

Even though things are starting to change,a great many lawn care services have never advertised their services beyond the typical handing out of brochures and listing their company in the phone book. By not focusing beyond these two advertising methods, they are potentially missing out on a ton of business.

Specialization can be very profitable. While all lawn care service companies advertise their services as a whole, many of them fail to advertise specific parts of their service. For example, if you specialize in organic lawn care, advertising that you use organic fertilizer can easily grow into a full blown service of its own.

Tree trimming and stump removal services are addition examples of auxiliary services that many full service lawn care companies provide which could easily stand on its own. You may be surprised at just how much your business can grow by simply taking one or more of the services that your company already provides and offering it as a standalone service to homeowners and businesses who are interested.

Amazingly, in this Internet age, it is amazing and baffling to realize that so many business owners have no presence on the web. Today, local search is more important than ever. Many customers, when looking for a lawn care company, use the Internet as their first resource instead of the yellow pages as they did in year’s past. And the cost is miniscule compared to the business you may potentially get.

It isn’t necessary for your first website to be the best of its kind ever created. In fact, in the beginning, all that you really need for your website is a one-page brochure. And, it does not even have to do that much. All it has to do is to list the services you perform, your contact information, and a call to action. You can have this done by a web designer or student for much less than $100 total. A domain name will cost you under $10. And hosting fees for a one page web site will run you anywhere from $1.00 to $10.00 a month. Your total first year cost is $230 at most. If  your website gets you only one new customer that year, it has paid off.

When it comes to advertising, most business people are limited in their imagination. But, there are many ways to advertise your business. What many lawn care companies fail to do it to develop a business and marketing plan aimed at getting them more business.

Many people undervalue a sales and marketing plan. But it is valuable because it forces you to laser focus on what is the most important to your business – marketing. Without a business and advertising plan, your company will never grow to its potential. Instead, like most businesses, it may simply wither and fade away.

Providing Flexible Work Arrangements without Affecting Business Growth

The time has gone when you could divide your 24 hours intro 8 hours of working, 8 hours of leisure and 8 hours of rest. With the increasing competition and rising prices of basic amenities, people are struggling to perform better than the rest.

While giving much importance to career and working schedule, one thing that certainly goes unnoticed is the family. This, generally, becomes a major issue for working mothers who have to balance their work and family without leaving out one thing for another. To ease their problem, work-life balance programs have been introduced that helps such working mothers to give time to their work as well as their family and kids.

On one hand, it is helping efficient employees to manage their lives properly by getting flexibility in working hours. On other hand, it is helping companies to retain hard-working employees by giving them a flexible working environment. There are many companies that have given a green signal to work-life balance programs and are finding it efficient for business growth.

If you are also eager to understand the concept in depth, you can consult with a counselor who will provide you with the best alternative work schedule for your employees so that they can perform well while performing their family responsibilities.

You can use Internet to look for a trusted partner who can provide you right guidance for the betterment of your company. Once you achieve the right plan that is a win-win situation for your company and your employees, you can proceed with the flexible schedule arrangements proposed by the company.

CNA Salary Detail and How Much He/She Can Make

In a job sector environment, there is always a question about the salary package a professional is earning. In an employer-employee relationship, an employer always tries its best to hire a worker on the minimum salary package and an employee always tries its best to get the maximum salary package with maximum benefits like health insurance, dental insurance, housing benefits, retirement benefits, and sort of disability income protections if something wrong happens to him during his job period. Here, the question is what an employee should possess in order to avail higher salary package and maximum benefits. Similarly, at this stage, another question arises that what a person should do to get a good job, to earn a good income in order to secure the bright future. The simplest answer is that you should select the suitable career, earn sufficient qualification in the form of degree or certification and then gain the respective field experience. Here we will discuss about the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and how much does a CNA make?

CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) is a certification level program. This program is offered for the candidates who want to serve in the nursing field under the supervision of a registered nurse. CNA is a nursing career job. The main objective of this job is to assist the nurses to handle the patients. It is a healthcare job. We can say that a CNA is a qualified healthcare worker whose main job responsibility is to take care the needs of patients. The main objective of this job is to take care the patients.

The Income level of a typical CNA varies depending on different factors. Some of these factors are.

1. The basic qualification of a Certified Nursing Assistant. Besides this certification, what is the basic education level of the person.
2. Experience level of a CNA i.e. the number of years user has been working in this field. The higher the number of years user has served in this field, the higher is its income ratio.
3. The type of the employer. Where the user is working? Is it a private hospital, a government institution or a patient’s house or a small healthcare center.
4. geographical location of the CNA. Most of the CNAs are getting high salary in the developed countries as compared to developing countries.

To find out the salary range for a CNA or in other words how much does a CNA make, we can look into different resources like payscale.com. As told earlier salary range varies on the basis of above mentioned factors. A typical CNA working in the USA can earn up to 25000 USD a year.

Online Recruiting: a creative staffing strategy for firms in every economic sector

The Internet revolution has greatly impacted the recruitment landscape for both employers and job seekers just as it has offered unlimited possibilities across all disciplines of human ingenuity (in civil engineering, property management, international development sector consulting, oil & gas, among others) and that ICT strengths and potentialities have something distinctive to say about what it means to run a modern, technologically empowered institution. ICTs are central to the new knowledge economy and are essential for the promotion of development especially with knowledge generated from the latest cutting-edge technologies. Online recruiting is thus a creative staffing strategy for firms in every economic sector. Online recruiters have perfected skills to match employers with job seekers who fit their criteria. They do their research. They introduce researched knowledge that facilitates the creativity of job seeking prospects and turning them into winning producers that translates in huge company profits.

Aptitude tests in job requirements, positive interpersonal disposition and motivation are all appropriate dimensions online recruiters are capable of deciphering. And job seeking prospects who excel are those who are self motivated to contribute to their discipline beyond employment. Social media environments such as Eldis (a free on-line community where professionals can meet others involved in international development, discuss issues that are important to them and share useful resources, Creative Commons (where professionals are provided with free licenses and other legal tools to mark creative work with the freedom the creator wants it to carry, so others can share, remix, use commercially, or any combination thereof, and Gurteen Knowledge (a community for people who are committed to making a difference – people who wish to share and learn from each other and who strive to see the world differently, think differently and act differently; have, for instance, offered unlimited possibilities for professionals to organize themselves into communities of practice and in demonstrating their resourcefulness in their various disciplines.

Usually a versatile and savvy executive search company will use a combination of vigorous approaches to dig deep into search engines for a candidate that best meets the requirements of any company.  Majority of these approaches consist of going through a candidate database search, advertisement-based candidate selection, and executive search. Of course, the self motivated candidate found to be contributing to his or her discipline beyond employment is thus based on the conjecture that such research and development contributions can revolutionize the thinking, attitudes, beliefs, orientations and behavioral intentions of an executive search company or online recruiter. As such even with histories of gaps in a candidate’s career practice, with self motivated engagement in areas of research and development in a candidate’s discipline is reasonable expectation most companies can be impressed with and can engender greater confidence in a candidate’s ability to drive success in a company.

Another up and up outlook for being actively engaged in research and development in your discipline is the possibility of generating more visibility for yourself for contract positions and once inside a candidate can always review open positions; and with more familiarity with a company’s goals and human resource practices, the possibility for a candidate to stay beyond his or her contract becomes even more attainable. Furthermore, interest in research and development in any specialized discipline interlaces well with a willingness of job seeking prospects to continuously work to become more knowledgeable in various ICT programs. Moreover, with the possibilities brought about by ICTs, recruitment online has been made even more cost effective and there are ICT platforms such as YouNoodle which enables the creation of a database consisting of the best resumes.

Job seeking prospects today have many options of showing their qualifications and their research contributions in communities of practice online and which many online recruiting and executive search agencies and headhunters have come to find very useful in successfully recruiting qualified people to suitable jobs. Also important, a candidate must demonstrate long term commitment, one of credible ways to ensure accessibility to a company.

Connections for Job Seekers: Associations Lead to Opportunities

Job hunting in a good economy can be an effort.  In a slumping economy it can be downright brutal.  It would seem logical that job seekers would use every available strategy to secure employment.  Yet according to a recent study by Career Builder and The Inavero Institute for Service Research*, the majority of job seekers are not utilizing key resources in their search.

A major overlooked area is participating in associations or industry groups.  According to the study, only 7% of candidates were taking advantage of associations or trade organizations as they looked for a new job.  That means 93% of folks are missing out on this strategy.

Associations and groups provide a wealth of information, knowledge and connections to people employed in a particular industry. Just being a member isn’t enough; you really need to get involved and participate to benefit from the advantages these groups offer. When you’re a member, you’re an “insider.” You find out important information like who is working where, what companies are hiring (or not), which companies you might want to work for (or not), key skills employers may be looking for, and current trends in your industry. Many job opportunities that go unadvertised will be filled via word-of-mouth through these types of connections.

Hiring is a trust decision—People need to trust that you can do what they think you can for their company. Generally a hiring manager would rather choose someone they’ve worked with or met before, or who was referred by someone they trust. When you participate in industry groups, suddenly you’re more than a faceless resume. You’re that interesting person they had a conversation with last month, or that student who really responded well to their portfolio critique. As a job seeker you become a full-fledged person, not just a piece of paper.

Which groups are best for you? There are a wide variety of choices, but a good place to start is with local organizations or local chapters of national associations that are most closely related to what you do. Do an online search, then ask people you respect in your industry which groups they participate in. If you’re a graphic designer, find the AIGA chapter or similar organization in your city. If you’re in marketing, check out the American Marketing Association chapter.

Find the people that do what you do, and check out those groups first. Then expand to groups that are related to what you do, or where people who hire people like you participate. For example, a marketing person with healthcare industry experience may join both the AMA and a healthcare association. Be sure to sample a variety of groups to see which ones feel like the best fit for you.  You can generally attend a meeting or two as a guest before you make the decision to join. Participation and a genuine interest in what the group does is key, so where you feel welcome and excited to attend events will be the best choice for you.

The art of career search

Career search is often a time consuming and daunting task, yet it doesn’t have to be. The boom of the Internet and career search engines, as well as specialised career search sites, has made career search easy and accessible to both employees and school leavers.

A successful career search starts with an impressive CV and many career search websites offer tips and tools for making a great CV, which is of paramount importance in any career search of any nature. Avoid making the same old boring mistakes when embarking on your career search; whether it is your first job you’re looking for, or if you are doing a career search to advance your career path, focus on being remarkable. Quality career search sites will offer advice on how to achieve this and what to avoid on your career search path. A career search will require you to market and sell yourself to the potential employer, and a clever résumé can be the perfect career search accessory for setting you apart from others.

Research is key in any successful career search and as much as the Internet can be a huge asset to your search, it can also be a trap, as it offers so much information. Therefore, when doing research or a career search online, be sure to stay focussed on what information you need. Recent career search studies suggest that you should focus your attention on two areas. These are, preparing for the interview, and networking. Networking is another very useful career search tool.

Part of your interview preparation when conducting a career search and applying for a position should include finding information on the prospective company. This will assist your career search as you will be able to assess if the company’s goals and preferences match your own. Also it will put you in a good position to ask the interviewer pertinent questions about the company and make a great impression. Another career search ‘must do’ should be knowing what your ‘value’ in the labour market is. This will help you secure a fair compensation package.

A career search can also be conducted via networking. And while traditional career search face to face networking is considered important, it is equally important to stretch your career search networking into a new dimension: the internet. Career search networking online will expand the number of people who know you and thus may be able to assist in your career search.

James Tenbusch On Importance of Technology In Education

James Tenbusch is an experienced school district superintendent and recognized national leader in bringing technology to public education. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Educational Processes from Northwestern University. Since the early 1980′s, James Tenbusch has worked hard to introduce technology in the classrooms and he recently secured enough competitive grant money to provide a laptop computer to every middle school and high school student in a large urban district in the Chicago area. James Tenbusch advises school districts contemplating One-to-One (1:1) Computer initiative in their schools that several steps need to be completed before deploying a laptop to each student, and that this is a multiyear process.  Among the steps to be considered are: getting a laptop in the hands of each teacher one year before student deployment, overhauling a school’s networking infrastructure to operate at gigabit speed, installing wireless access points in every classroom, high bandwidth connection to the Internet, and above all else, at least 50 hours of staff development with teachers.

Once the prerequisites for 1:1 computing, including the infrastructural underpinnings described above, have been met, James Tenbusch recommends revising a school’s curriculum to include a problem based learning approach to instruction. He states: “Having a state of the art technology program will do little unless teachers change the way they teach. The key here is to respond to needs of the digital learners who are frustrated with the current analog world of the classroom.” Through his 21st century learning philosophy, James Tenbusch ensures that students have access to the technological resources where real-time exchange of information with learning partners around the world is possible through applications like video conferencing, blogs, wikis, personal learning networks and more.

James Tenbusch believes that establishing a link between learners and technology is vital to student achievement. As long as students have ubiquitous access to current electronic sources of information about a topic, particularly primary source information, they will naturally become better thinkers and problem solvers in the acquisition of core academics that will serve them well in post secondary settings and the workplace. According to James Tenbusch, “information” is the most valuable commodity in today’s world economy and students must be skilled in information processing in order to compete in that economy. This is only possible by moving away from the traditional textbook based teaching and moving towards more electronic based teaching where the critical analysis of current and primary source information is practiced daily.

James Tenbusch has written numerous publications in technology utilization in the classroom, and has conducted many speaking engagements on the topic. He has provided a wide variety of teacher technology training programs and workshops to school districts throughout Illinois. He was recently commissioned to write an article for Scholastic Administrator magazine on 1:1 computing in middle schools and high schools (scheduled for publication in March 2011), and he is currently working on a book on the topic. Lazy Will Never Make Money For You

How many times in your life have you sat and thought about how you could make money by simply putting an idea of your own in motion?  Most people would probably say they had at least a few good ideas that either faded away over time or was created by someone else later on to become a million dollar idea.  This happens a lot in the world of business as well, when one company is too slow to jump on an idea, and another one profits from their quick reactions.  It goes along with the old adage, ” If you snooze, you lose,” or ” the early bird gets the worm.”  Both of these sayings are very truthful, and if you ever want to make any really big sums of money, you have to get off the couch and do something about it, because lazy will never make money for you.

It was always said that the great Thomas Edison only slept two hours a day.  While that is hard to believe, it does explain a lot about why the man invented so many great things.  He didn’t sit around   contemplating things as much as he did actually work to create them.  Think about how many hours you think about your need to make money, and then think about how much you actually do to make that money.  I bet that most people think about it more than they get off their butts and do something about it.

If you have an idea, a plan, or just the desire to start creating something that could make money for you, start doing it.  Do not be afraid to fail, as failure will breed success eventually, and you might get lucky and begin to turn profits right away.  What do you have to lose except for some time, which you were merely spending watching reruns of Jerry Springer or Wheel of Fortune anyway.  Wouldn’t it be worth it to miss an episode or two of some crappy television shows if you could actually put more money in your pocket?

So, remember, lazy will never make money for you or anyone else.  The next time you think you have an idea but don’t feel energetic enough to get started on your journey to riches, get a pot of coffee on and start building something for yourself.  You have little to lose and a whole lot to gain from it.

Is your education complete? Lets start make a professional resume

Several people think that a diploma is their permit to a great job, but that’s not true. Luckily, there are some things that you can do as a new graduate that will give you an edge over your peers when it comes to post graduation job hunting.

Resumes are a further resource of important information about candidates. If a resume is written with clear spelling and grammar mistakes employers will usually discard it. Getting the most qualified and progressive employees are a main part of business for any type of companies. They view good employees as productive who make few mistakes and poor employees as a problem to be replaced. A resume could demonstrate them what type of employee you really are and the reasons why they should appoint you.

There are a number of things people need to keep in mind when writing their resume. Use the following list to increase your chances of employment success:

1.) Must emphasize the skills and abilities of the person.

2.) Should use a format that is normally used in the field in which the person is applying.

3.) It should be fresh and not more than 2 pages (variable depending on field).

4.) Your resume should have a hint of color to underline it from other resumes.

5.) Should use parchment quality paper and an executive packet.

6.) Must have no spelling errors and use accurate grammar.

Another alternative to writing your own resume is to have a professional write one for you. In this way you are sure to have one of the most ascetically pleasing and professionally written resumes in the bunch. There are many different types of resume businesses for people to turn to. Make sure the person you are working with has years of experience in the human resource field and professional writing skills. You can also publish your resume over the internet by which you can get more opportunities.
